CRAMP RIGHT NOW?

Toes up toward your shin. Hold. It lets go in 30 to 60 seconds. The rest of this page makes sure tonight does not repeat.

The honest diagnosis

You hydrate. You stretch. Your calf has other plans.

The worst part of the night cramp is not the pain. It is lying in the dark afterwards, waiting to see if the second one is coming. Here is what is actually happening: a cramp is a signalling failure, the muscle fires and the relax message stops landing. Five things interfere with that signal. Most players stack two or three at once.

01
The salt gap

You replaced the water. Not the minerals.

Sweat is not just water. It carries out the sodium, potassium and magnesium your muscles use to fire and relax. Play after a full day in air-conditioning with coffee and not much water, and the 2am cramp is the bill for the whole day.

The fixPut the minerals back after heavy sweats. Food covers light days. Soaked-shirt days need more.
What sweat takes out
500–1,500mg
of sodium leaves with every litre of sweat
Water puts back none of it.
Tested at Edith Cowan University, Australia: with an electrolyte drink cramp resistance went up, with plain water it went down. Same exercise, same heat.
02
The water trap

The plain water you drank made it worse.

A lot of plain water after a heavy sweat dilutes the sodium you have left. Less sodium, when sodium is exactly what carries the signal. "But I drank water all match" is the most common sentence in cramp stories for a reason.

The study is about electrolyte drinks in general, not our product. We are happy to say so.

The fixDrink steadily through the day, and pair water with minerals when the sweat is heavy.

You played more than your muscles were trained for.

The third game when you normally play two. The first week back after a break. Pushed past what it is used to, the nerve control gets jumpy and the relax signal misfires.

The fixBuild up gradually. Free, and it matters more than most players want to hear.

You are running on short sleep.

A tired nervous system controls muscles badly. Stack late nights, long workdays and night matches, and part of your cramp is a recovery problem.

The fixTreat sleep as part of training. No drink does this job, including ours.

You stretch before the match, which never prevented anything.

Stretching before exercise has not been shown to prevent cramps. It is first aid for a cramp already happening. Prevention is the slow, boring work.

How to stop a live cramp: pull your toes toward your shin with a towel and hold 30 to 60 seconds, or stand and press your heel down with toes up
The fixSave the stretch for the cramp itself. Spend the prevention effort on strength: slow calf raises a few times a week, so the muscle handles long matches without panicking.

Reasons 3 to 5 are yours, and they are free. Reasons 1 and 2 are the ones a drink can solve, if it carries enough of the right minerals. Here is what that means.

What goes back in

The numbers don't hide.

The usual isotonic can carries about 80mg of sodium and a lot of sugar. Some imported sticks pack 1,000mg into one dose. The sensible number for this climate sits in the middle.

The cramp routine

One sachet in your water in the hour before a hard or hot session. One more once you are done. Night crampers: the after one matters most. Judge it after three games, not one.

Why not just drink more water?

Water replaces the fluid you sweated out but none of the salt, and a large amount of plain water after a heavy sweat dilutes the sodium you have left. The Edith Cowan University research found exactly that pattern: electrolyte drink, more cramp-resistant; plain water, more cramp-prone.

Why ELT and not an isotonic can?

The usual isotonic carries about 80mg of sodium plus a lot of sugar. After a heavy sweat that is not enough salt to do the job. ELT carries 600mg sodium, 200mg potassium and 60mg magnesium with zero sugar, dosed for playing in this climate.

What exactly is in it?

Salt (sodium chloride), citrus fruit powder (29%), natural flavors, potassium citrate, citric acid, magnesium chloride, stevia leaf extract. No sugar, no artificial sweeteners, no artificial flavoring, no coloring. The full panel is printed on every sachet.

Is it halal?

Halal-certified ingredients in a halal-certified facility. MOH licensed. US Formulated and made in a GMP certified facility to HACCP and ISO standards.

How do I take it?

Mix one sachet into 500 to 1,000ml of cold water, to taste. Up to 1 to 2 sachets a day depending on how much you sweat. Before and after hard or hot sessions is the routine most players run.

What if I do not feel it after three games?

Then minerals were probably not your bottleneck, and we would rather tell you that than sell you another box. Go back to reasons 3 to 5: effort spikes, sleep and calf strength. They are free, and for some players they are the whole answer.

When should I skip it?

On days you are not sweating much, plain water is probably fine. We would rather you skip ELT on the days you do not need it and trust us on the days you do.

When is a cramp a doctor visit instead?

If cramps happen often without exercise or heat, come with swelling, numbness or skin changes, started with a new medication, or are severe and not improving. Those can point to circulation, nerve or medication issues, and no drink fixes those.

Try it the way players judge it.

No countdown timers and no miracle promises. Three honest reasons trying ELT is a small decision, not a leap.

1·2·3

The three-game test decides, not us.

One sachet before, one after, three sessions. If game three does not feel different, stop buying it. We mean that. It means minerals were not your bottleneck, and reasons 3 to 5 on this page are free. Your calves are the referee, not our ad.

RM5.40

Start smaller than the ads.

You do not need the full box to find out. The Starter Pack is one pouch of 12 sachets for RM64.80, which works out to RM5.40 a sachet: enough to run the three-game test twice for less than one court booking. The bigger packs bring it down to RM4.96 and RM4.56 a sachet.

Honest enough to lose a sale.

Not sweating today? Plain water is fine, and we say so on this page. Cramping at rest or on new medication? See a doctor, not a drink. And if anything about your order is off, support@DrinkELT.com reaches the two founders directly. We answer.

From the two of us

We made the electrolyte we could not buy here.

We are Yuli and Shyanne. We play in the same heat you do, and we got tired of choosing between sugary cans with barely any sodium and imported sticks that cost RM14 a serving by the time customs was done with them.

So we built ELT: the right minerals in the right amounts, real citrus, zero sugar, licensed here and priced like something you can actually drink every game. If it ends your 2am cramps the way it ended ours, we are even.
